Get the podcast cheat sheet here:

A while back, I published the most popular podcasting tutorial on YouTube, and in this video I wanted to make sure you have all of the latest and greatest information so that you can get your podcast setup the right way.

Podcasting has changed my life! It's helped me build a huge audience, develop a deeper relationship with my subscribers and customers, make more money, and most importantly make a bigger impact in the world.

All you need to do now is take action and learn how to start a podcast!

In this particular video, I'll be highlighting the equipment and software you need to get started – all without breaking the bank. My goal is to take away all of the excuses you have that are holding you back from starting your podcast. Trust me, because it took me forever to start my podcast back in July of 2010.

Things have changed since then (hint: it's A LOT easier to start a podcast today than it was before), and so make sure you watch through this video about equipment and software, and then subscribe so you don't miss the other two videos in this tutorial series!

Great podcast, Pat. I will not be doing podcasts any time soon but I have started making YouTube videos so, despite being an MS girl, I found the Garage Band tutorial helpful.

I have no desire to start a podcast but it’s good to know there are awesome resources out there to help get started. If anyone asks if I know how to start a podcast, I know where to direct them.

My 10 year old son who has just started listening to wrestling podcasts 5 days ago came to me today with his ideas for a wrestling podcast he wants us to do together aimed more towards kids than adults. I was very impressed with his whole presentation but totally daunted on how to do this. Thankfully some podcasts I listen to said on Twitter they had listened to your youtube videos before they started their shows. After just 1 video this seems far more doable and I will download the cheat sheet too. I appreciate you doing these videos. I think this will be a great experience for both my son and I.

Hi 👋🏾Pat!!! Can you make a vid for multiple mic users in a podcast show. Would I need extra equipment? Btw you are doing a great job! I also listen to your SPI podcast! I appreciate you! 😝

    Big J4 - March 29, 2019 Reply

Hi Lynelle, there’s any new piece of gear called the RodeCaster Pro by Rode that would be a perfect fit for you. I to want setup to have multiple mics for several guest. This item is great for podcasters and is relatively inexpensive, about $600.00. But it will be well worth the money. I currently have one on back order. Hope this helps!!

    wobblebomb - April 15, 2019 Reply

Is possible on a Mac very easily without any extra equipment (probably on a pc too but I’m not familiar)-you just plug in two usb mics and make an aggregate audio device in preferences. I won’t explain it all here because there are peeps out there doing so in a much clearer fashion. Search YouTube or the web and there are plenty of great tutorials. It is surprisingly easy

I’m new to podcasting. thank you so much for this video after watching this video I have a better understanding of what I need to get and do without feeling overwhelmed with so much equipment looking forward to more videos from you

Fringes - February 28, 2019 Reply

I don’t like being infront of a camera, so i was encouraged to do a podcast instead.
I’m more effective in teaching face-to-face, but I’m here because I’m willing to learn.
One my biggest flaws, I’M CHEAP, looking at the cost is pretty daunting for me too.
I need all the help I can get.
